Iron / Steel Doors
Steel is the core of every Abby iron door — hand-forged in 12-gauge steel for strength, security, and a slim, timeless profile. Steel takes ornamental ironwork beautifully and holds a protective finish well, and with impact glazing it's built to Florida Building Code for coastal storm zones. Each steel door is made to order and shipped across the United States and Canada, backed by a 15-year warranty.
What are steel doors?
Steel doors are prized for strength and security: a forged 12-gauge steel slab resists forcing far better than a hollow stamped door, while still taking fine ornamental detail. With a protective finish and periodic care, steel holds up in humid and coastal climates, and with a thermal break it's energy efficient too.
Steel vs. aluminum: steel maximizes strength and slim sightlines and is the core of Abby's iron doors; aluminum (also available) adds extra corrosion resistance for salt-air exposure. Each steel door is custom-built — choose style, glass, finish, and hardware.

Frequently asked questions
Why choose a steel door?
Strength, security, and a slim profile that still takes fine ornamental ironwork — a forged-steel slab outperforms hollow stamped doors.
Are steel doors secure?
Yes — a forged 12-gauge steel slab with multi-point locking options is far harder to force than a hollow door.
Do steel doors rust?
They resist rust with their protective finish and periodic care.
Steel or aluminum — which is better?
Steel maximizes strength and slim sightlines; aluminum adds corrosion resistance for salt air.
Are steel doors energy efficient?
With a thermal break and insulated glazing, yes.
